Member representing Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency, Hon. (Chief) Fred Agbedi, has congratulated the newly confirmed Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Dr. Peter Pereotubo Akpe, on his successful screening and confirmation by the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, Agbedi commended Governor Douye Diri for what he described as a ‘strategic and visionary choice’ in appointing Dr. Akpe to fill the office of Deputy Governor.
He said the appointment reflects Governor Diri’s commitment to continuity, competence, and effective governance, describing it as “a well-calculated move that strengthens the administration’s leadership team.”
The lawmaker praised Dr. Akpe as a dependable, resilient, and hardworking public servant whose elevation is a testament to his loyalty, dedication, and meritorious service to Bayelsa State.
Agbedi particularly highlighted Akpe’s outstanding performance as Chief of Staff to the Governor, noting his administrative acumen, collaborative spirit, and leadership qualities that have contributed immensely to the smooth running of the government.
He described the new Deputy Governor as “a round peg in a round hole,” stressing that his blend of legislative experience and administrative expertise uniquely qualifies him to excel in his new role.
“Dr. Akpe’s appointment is not just a reward for competence but also a reflection of Governor Diri’s foresight in choosing individuals capable of sustaining the tempo of good governance,” Agbedi stated.
