Caleb Mutfwang has directed security agencies to intensify operations following a deadly attack on Ratatis community in Dorowa Babuje, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State that left at least 10 people dead.

The governor described the killings as “barbaric and senseless,” vowing that perpetrators would be apprehended and prosecuted.

The directive came as nine victims were laid to rest in a mass burial attended by grieving families, religious leaders, and community members.

According to a statement issued by the state government, security forces have been ordered to strengthen their presence in affected and neighboring communities.

A joint search and rescue team has also been deployed to assist victims, track missing persons, and stabilise the area.

The attack occurred on Sunday in Ratatis village, Dorowa Babuje, sparking fear across parts of Barkin Ladi and the wider Jos metropolis.

Injured victims are reportedly receiving treatment at nearby health facilities, while authorities continue to monitor the situation.

The Chairman of the Regional Church Council of the Church of Christ in Nigeria, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, who officiated at the burial, called for enhanced protection of vulnerable Christian communities.

He urged residents to remain prayerful despite the tragedy.
Meanwhile, the National President of the Berom Youths Moulders Association raised concerns over alleged ignored early warnings before the attack.

He also called for stricter enforcement of the ban on open grazing, describing it as a recurring trigger for violence in rural communities.

Tension spread to parts of Jos on Tuesday, with shops and businesses in areas such as Gangare, Zololo Junction, and Katako temporarily shut over fears of reprisals.

Security operatives were seen patrolling strategic locations to prevent further escalation.

The Plateau State Government reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace, strengthening community security, and preventing further attacks.
