Nollywood is gearing up for another major cinematic moment as Editi Effiong officially announces The Black Book: Old Scores, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2023 Netflix hit, The Black Book.
The original film became a global success story, ranking in Netflix’s Top 10 across 69 countries and earning over 20 million views.
Now, Effiong is raising the stakes with a more ambitious production designed to elevate Nigerian cinema on the world stage.
Veteran Nollywood icon Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) will reprise his role as Paul Edima, the relentless father-turned-vigilante fighting systemic corruption.
According to the filmmaker, the sequel explores deeper themes of justice, redemption, and social unrest in contemporary Nigeria while delivering a fresh, gripping storyline.
Adding international weight to the project is Emmy Award-winning producer Nicky Weinstock, known for his work on the critically acclaimed series Severance.
His involvement signals a strategic push toward stronger global collaboration and higher production value.
Effiong revealed that he spent two years developing the script, co-written with Bunmi Ajakaiye, and securing significant funding.
Backed by Adino Capital, Mango Tree, and Blooming Caravan, The Black Book: Old Scores is described as a “historic production” featuring a 300-member Nigerian and international crew.
The sequel will also introduce new characters from Nigeria, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Japan — reflecting Nollywood’s expanding global footprint.
While an official release date has yet to be announced, anticipation is already building among fans eager to see whether Old Scores can surpass the global streaming success of its predecessor.
With star power, international production backing, and a bold narrative focus, The Black Book: Old Scores is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Nollywood films of the year.
