MOSIEND Commends PINL for Strengthening Trust, Securing Trans Niger Pipeline

By Our Correspondent

Port Harcourt – The Movement for the Survival of the Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND) has applauded Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) for its outstanding performance in safeguarding and maintaining the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) in the Eastern Corridor on behalf of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

In a statement signed by its National President, Amb. Kennedy Tonjo West, MOSIEND noted that PINL’s efforts have significantly improved the security of vital oil infrastructure while fostering stronger collaboration between operators and host communities along the TNP corridor.

Dr. West said one of PINL’s major achievements has been the introduction of monthly stakeholder engagement meetings, which have become effective platforms for continuous dialogue among traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, women’s organisations, security agencies, and industry players.

According to MOSIEND, these engagements have been instrumental in promoting mutual trust, reducing tensions, and enhancing cooperation among stakeholders — all contributing to the successful protection of the Trans Niger Pipeline, a key crude oil export route for Nigeria.

The group further stated that the prevailing peace and stability along the TNP corridor stand as proof of the positive impact of community-driven pipeline protection and inclusive corporate practices.

MOSIEND also praised PINL for its scholarship programme for students from host communities, describing it as a laudable demonstration of corporate social responsibility and a meaningful investment in the Niger Delta’s future.

The prompt disbursement of these grants, the group added, has alleviated financial strain on families and deepened confidence in the company’s sincerity.

Highlighting the broader benefits, MOSIEND noted that improved protection of the TNP has enhanced crude delivery efficiency and boosted the operational stability of NNPCL, contributing to national economic growth and energy security.

The organisation also commended traditional rulers, community development committees (CDCs), youth and women groups for their patriotism and cooperation in safeguarding national assets.

MOSIEND urged PINL to sustain its stakeholder engagement initiatives and expand community-based programmes to consolidate the peace and development gains recorded in the region.

The statement concluded that the success achieved along the Trans Niger Pipeline corridor offers a model for sustainable pipeline protection that can be replicated across the Niger Delta and the entire country.
