The Abia State Government has announced plans to host the Abia Business Roundtable 2026, a strategic investment forum aimed at strengthening public-private sector collaboration and accelerating economic growth in the state.

The high-level business engagement, scheduled for March 5, 2026, at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia, will be presided over by Alex Otti, Governor of Abia State.

According to the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, the roundtable will provide a structured platform for dialogue between government officials, ministries, departments, agencies, and business leaders drawn from across Nigeria.

The goal is to address investment opportunities in Abia, ease of doing business reforms, and policies that support enterprise growth.

The Director-General of the Abia State Public Private Partnership and Investment Promotions Office, Mr. Chinedum Chijioke, explained that the forum is designed to foster collaboration, policy shaping, and private sector-driven development.

“As seen globally, the private sector drives economic expansion, while government provides the enabling environment,” he noted. Participation in the Abia Business Roundtable will be by registration and invitation.

Organisers have categorized businesses based on annual revenue—from ₦50 million enterprises to companies generating over ₦1 billion—to ensure representation across different economic tiers.

The initiative marks the first structured government–business engagement of its kind under the current administration in Umuahia.

Officials say it will serve as a foundation for long-term economic partnerships, improved investment facilitation, and stronger aftercare support for existing investors.

With growing interest in Abia’s emerging market opportunities, the roundtable is expected to position the state as a competitive destination for private sector investment in Nigeria’s evolving business landscape.
