The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Onitsha Unit, in collaboration with Lovebite Food and Beverages, recently carried out a humanitarian outreach, distributing food, drinks, and other relief items to vulnerable persons, accident victims, and tricycle operators in Onitsha, Anambra State.

The initiative, held on Friday, focused on providing assistance to beggars, underprivileged individuals, and hospitalised accident victims, reflecting the spirit of love and compassion associated with the Lenten season—a period of fasting, repentance, and reflection in imitation of Jesus Christ’s 40 days in the wilderness.

Speaking on the outreach, Onitsha FRSC Unit Commander, ACC Godwin Odoh, emphasized that the exercise not only supports accident victims during recovery but also strengthens community bonds.

He further praised the public for ensuring smooth traffic and zero accidents along the River Niger corridor during the last Christmas and New Year celebrations.

“Beyond rescuing crash victims, we extend care during their recovery. This is a continuous exercise aimed at giving hope to victims and vulnerable members of society,” Odoh stated.

The Public Relations Officer, Kenechukwu Chidoka, noted that approximately 1,000 individuals—including tricycle operators and patients at Toronto Hospital—benefited from the outreach.

Chief Innocent Nwosu, CEO of Lovebite Food and Beverages, represented by Nnenna Okoronkwo, expressed satisfaction with the initiative, highlighting the company’s commitment to supporting those who feel neglected in society.

Toronto Hospital Manager, Osy Mbelu, commended both the FRSC and Lovebite for extending care and fellowship to accident victims, patients, and hospital staff.

This collaborative effort underscores the FRSC’s dual role of ensuring road safety and providing humanitarian support, particularly during significant seasons like Lent.

Through partnerships with local businesses, the corps continues to foster compassion, community support, and recovery assistance for vulnerable groups in Anambra State.
