The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Appeals Committee has overturned the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) decision to banish Remo Stars from their home ground, allowing the club to host matches at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne once again.
The NPFL had initially sanctioned the defending champions after crowd disturbances during their matchday 20 clash with Ikorodu City on January 14.
Remo Stars were fined ₦7 million for breaching league regulations and ordered to play at Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
The disciplinary panel cited inadequate security, clashes among supporters, harassment of officials, and dangerous objects found inside the stadium.
Following an earlier partial reprieve, the Appeals Committee’s latest ruling on February 27, 2026, nullified the banishment entirely.
This paves the way for Remo Stars’ return to Ikenne, where they are set to host Katsina United on March 1.
The fixture also marks the first game in charge for newly appointed coach Usman Abd’Allah, who faces the daunting task of steering the team away from relegation. Remo Stars’ campaign has been turbulent.
They began the season in Abeokuta due to stadium renovations, returned to Ikenne briefly, and then moved to Ibadan, Benin, and Akure due to various logistical and facility challenges.
The team has gone seven matches without a win since January 14 and currently sits 19th on the NPFL table, with 11 games remaining.
With the home-ground advantage restored, Remo Stars will conclude the season hosting Katsina United, Nasarawa United, Kwara United, Shooting Stars, Niger Tornadoes, and Bayelsa United.
Coach Abd’Allah’s immediate challenge is to secure vital points and avoid the ignominy of becoming the first defending NPFL champion in 16 years to be relegated.
