The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has confirmed that its air defence systems successfully intercepted the majority of ballistic missiles and drones launched toward its territory during a large-scale Iranian assault, marking a sharp escalation in Middle East tensions.
According to the UAE Ministry of Defence, a total of 137 ballistic missiles were detected since the start of the attack. Of these, 132 were intercepted, while five fell into the sea without causing significant harm.
Authorities also reported detecting 209 drones, with 195 successfully destroyed mid-air.
Fourteen drones landed within UAE territory and surrounding waters, resulting in minor material damage.
Officials stated that debris from intercepted projectiles fell across various locations, affecting limited civilian infrastructure.
Emergency response teams quickly secured impacted areas to ensure public safety.
The government strongly condemned the Iranian strike, calling it a violation of national sovereignty and international law.
Officials described the attack as a “serious escalation” threatening regional security and civilian lives.
Minister of State for International Cooperation, H.E. Reem Al Hashimy, reaffirmed the country’s readiness to confront emerging threats, stressing that the UAE remains on high alert.
