Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Commissioner for Finance and renowned academic, Kabiru Dandago.
According to reports, the respected scholar died on Wednesday after a brief illness at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
In a condolence message released through his spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, Governor Yusuf described the late professor as a dedicated public servant whose contributions to governance and education left a lasting impact on Kano State.
The governor praised Dandago’s years of service, noting that the former finance commissioner served the state with integrity, professionalism, and commitment to public development.
He also highlighted the professor’s influence in the academic community, where he mentored students and contributed to knowledge development.
“Prof. Dandago’s passing is a huge loss to Kano State. We have lost a valuable son whose experience, wisdom, and dedication enriched both public service and the academic community,” the governor said in the statement.
Governor Yusuf added that the late scholar was widely respected for his humility, intellectual strength, and passion for education.
According to him, Dandago’s work in government and academia helped shape policy discussions and strengthened public administration in the state.
The governor extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, members of the academic community, and the people of Kano State who benefited from Dandago’s leadership and expertise.
He also prayed for divine mercy and forgiveness for the late professor, asking Almighty Allah to grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
The governor further prayed that Dandago’s family and loved ones receive the strength and comfort needed to cope with the painful loss.
Prof. Dandago’s death has drawn tributes from colleagues, students, and political leaders who remember him as a respected scholar and experienced public administrator whose legacy will continue to influence education and governance in Kano State.
