The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has officially approved the confirmation of appointment for 1,659 staff of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
These confirmations follow a recent evaluation by the FCT Civil Service Commission, which held a confirmation examination on February 28, 2026, attended by 2,281 candidates.
According to a statement issued by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, the fate of the remaining 622 workers who took the examination remains unclear.
“The 1,659 confirmed staff were among 2,281 candidates who attended the FCT Civil Service confirmation exam,” the statement noted.
The FCT Civil Service Commission Chairman, Emeka Ezeh, highlighted that some confirmed staff were initially employed as far back as 2016 and 2019, while others joined shortly before Minister Wike assumed office in August 2023.
A total of 224 officers were absent from the exam, raising concerns about possible ghost workers within the administration.
The statement also confirmed that the FCTA Civil Service Commission is preparing to conduct both 2025 and 2026 staff promotions in line with Minister Wike’s approval and President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening workforce morale in the FCTA.
Candidates are advised to check the commission’s website to verify the status of their appointments and promotions.
Earlier, in January 2026, over 2,000 FCTA workers received immediate promotions following examinations conducted from November 25–29, 2025.
These actions reflect ongoing efforts to ensure transparency, efficiency, and career progression within the Federal Capital Territory civil service.
As the list of confirmed and pending staff continues to draw public attention, both confirmed employees and those awaiting decisions are encouraged to stay updated on official FCTA channels to ensure they are informed about their employment status.
