National News – The Nigeria Police Force in Yobe State has successfully apprehended a suspected member of an interstate motorcycle theft and burglary syndicate, bolstering efforts to curb rising crimes in northern Nigeria.

The suspect, 27-year-old Lukman Inusa, was arrested at the Potiskum Divisional Police Headquarters following intelligence linking him to multiple thefts across Yobe, Gombe, and Bauchi states.

Police confirmed that coordinated operations led to his arrest on March 3, 2026, at approximately 11 a.m.

The Yobe State Police Public Relations Officer, Dungus Abdulkarim, stated that preliminary investigations revealed Inusa’s involvement in stealing motorcycles, often targeting unsuspecting victims in local communities.

During questioning, the suspect confessed to his crimes and guided officers to the recovery of five motorcycles out of the estimated 10 he allegedly stole since joining the syndicate.

The recovered motorcycles are now in police custody, and authorities are working to identify and contact the rightful owners.

Abdulkarim further disclosed that the command has intensified efforts to dismantle the syndicate entirely and apprehend other members still at large.

The operation is part of a broader initiative by the Yobe State Police Command to reduce motorcycle theft, burglary, and organized crime across the region.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and collaborate with law enforcement to enhance community safety.

The Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, commended members of the public for providing valuable tips that facilitated the arrest.

“Community engagement remains crucial in our fight against crime. Citizens’ information often leads to successful investigations and arrests,” Ado said.

The Police Command continues to reinforce surveillance, intelligence gathering, and coordinated operations across the state to ensure criminals are brought to justice.

The arrest of Lukman Inusa underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to combat organized theft syndicates and safeguard communities in northern Nigeria.

Residents are encouraged to support law enforcement efforts to prevent crime and promote public safety.
