National News – A Lagos-based mining company, Glister Success Limited, has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over what it described as the unlawful seizure of its truck and marble products, as well as the repeated arrest and detention of its workers.
The company accused officials from the commission’s Ilorin Zonal Office of intimidation and violation of its operational rights despite its compliance with mining regulations in Nigeria.
In a petition dated March 5, 2026, the firm, through its solicitors, Biodun Abdu-Raheem & Co., called on the Chairman of the anti-graft agency to urgently investigate the conduct of the officers involved.
The company also demanded the immediate release of its truck and marble rock allegedly seized by EFCC operatives during enforcement operations.
According to the petition, EFCC officials first confiscated the company’s truck and marble products on March 20, 2024.
The firm said some of its workers were also arrested and detained without clear justification, despite presenting valid mining licences and proof of payment of all required government dues.
The workers were eventually released after more than four weeks in custody following a court order in Suit No. HOG/MISC.8/2024.
Glister Success Limited further alleged that the situation repeated itself on November 28, 2025, when EFCC officers reportedly returned to seize additional goods and arrest several workers over what the company described as the same issue.
Although those workers were later released about a week after their arrest, the company claimed the seized truck and marble products remain in EFCC custody.
The firm explained that the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development later confirmed the legality of its mining operations in an official communication sent to the anti-corruption agency.
Despite this clarification, the company said its truck and goods had not been returned.
Glister Success Limited stated that its employees now live in constant fear of harassment, detention, and further disruption of their activities.
The company added that it has operated as a licensed mining firm since 1997 and processes marble rock into calcium carbonate used by various Nigerian industries.
The petition urged the EFCC leadership to investigate the alleged actions of the Ilorin Zonal Office, identify the officers responsible, release the impounded truck and goods, and prevent further arrests of its workers.
