National News – The Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman-Zuru, has been buried in his hometown of Zuru, following his death at the age of 56.

The respected lawmaker passed away on Monday while receiving medical treatment in Egypt after battling an undisclosed illness for some time.

The late speaker was laid to rest on Thursday in accordance with Islamic rites at the Zuru Central Mosque.

The funeral prayer was led by Imam Suleiman Tanko, who offered prayers for forgiveness and eternal rest for the deceased.

Family members, political associates, and sympathisers gathered in large numbers, reflecting the deep sense of loss felt across the state.

Usman-Zuru’s death marks a significant moment in Kebbi’s political landscape. As Speaker, he played a key role in legislative affairs and governance in the state.

His frequent trips abroad for medical care highlighted the seriousness of his illness, which ultimately led to his passing in Egypt.

He is survived by his wife and five children, who now face the difficult task of continuing without him.
