Falomo Buried in Ilesa Amid Tributes

National News – Prominent dignitaries, family members, and well-wishers gathered in Ilesa, Osun State, on Saturday to honour and bid farewell to Chief Michael Falomo, the Lofosan of Ilesa, who was laid to rest following his death on January 31, 2026, at the age of 87.

The funeral service, held at the Cathedral Church of St. John, Iloro, celebrated a life defined by service, faith, and philanthropy.

Chief Falomo, born on August 24, 1938, in Ilesa, was widely known for his contributions to social and charitable causes.

During his lifetime, he was actively involved in elite social clubs, including Island Club Lagos, Ikoyi Club 1938, and Lagos Lawn Tennis Club.

He also supported humanitarian initiatives such as the Federal Nigeria Society for the Blind and the D.O. Fagunwa Foundation, demonstrating his commitment to community development and welfare.

The burial ceremony attracted notable personalities from across Nigeria, including the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Chief Yinka Fasuyi, alongside other community leaders.

Family members, friends, and associates filled the cathedral, reflecting the widespread respect and admiration Falomo earned throughout his lifetime.

Delivering the sermon, the Bishop of Ilesa Southwest Diocese, Rt. Rev. Adebola Ojofeitimi, urged the bereaved family to find comfort and joy despite their loss.

He emphasised that Falomo lived a fulfilled life grounded in Christian faith, noting that his legacy was not measured by wealth but by his impact on others.

According to the cleric, the deceased dedicated his life to making people happy and serving God faithfully.
