National News – Sharafadeen Alli, a governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, will officially begin his campaign for the 2027 Oyo State election on Friday, April 17, 2026.

The campaign flag-off is scheduled to hold at the Yemetu Police Barracks Playing Field in Ibadan.

Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District, made this known during a meeting with APC Ward 03 executives in Ibadan North Local Government Area.

The senator disclosed that his ambition is driven by a desire to deliver purposeful leadership and introduce a renewed development agenda for the people of Oyo State.

He stressed that the APC remains a strong platform for progressive governance and sustainable development.

Alli also called on party members to remain united as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

As part of his early campaign efforts, Alli has commenced consultations with key stakeholders across the state.

Over the weekend, he visited the Oyo and Ogbomoso zones, where he held meetings with traditional rulers, including the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, as well as party leaders and influential figures.

In addition, Alli recently met with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos, alongside other APC stakeholders.

The consultations are part of broader efforts to build consensus and strengthen party unity ahead of the election.

Other aspirants, including former governorship candidate Teslim Folarin, have also engaged in similar high-level meetings.

Although there are speculations that the APC may adopt a consensus candidate, party officials have clarified that no official decision has been made.

However, insiders say ongoing discussions are focused on harmonising interests among aspirants to enhance the party’s chances of winning the 2027 election in Oyo State.
