National News – The Kano State Police Command has carried out coordinated raids on criminal hideouts and black spots across Kano State, leading to the arrest of 193 suspects between April 10 and 12, 2026, alongside the recovery of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs.
The operation followed directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and was supervised by Commissioner Ibrahim Adamu Bakori through 11 area commanders.
Authorities said the exercise targeted insecurity hotspots to restore public safety and strengthen community policing efforts.
Security operatives recovered 51 cutlasses, 15 sharp knives, 41 clubs locally known as ‘Gora’, 72 rubber solution containers, 69 sachets of Pregabalin, 259 Exol tablets, and a large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
The police said the exhibits were seized from different raid locations and will be used as evidence during ongoing investigations.
Authorities also confirmed that suspects are currently being profiled, while efforts continue to track other criminal collaborators and dismantle drug distribution points across Kano State.
Commissioner Bakori commended officers for professionalism and urged residents to provide timely information to aid policing efforts.
The command reaffirmed commitment to sustaining patrols, surveillance, and community engagement to ensure lasting peace and security in Kano State.
The suspects remain under investigation as security operations continue across the state. Authorities say peace efforts will be intensified in coming weeks.
