National News – Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday officially unveiled the newly constructed corporate headquarters of the Nigeria Revenue Service in Abuja, marking a major step in the Federal Government’s tax system reform.
The commissioning took place on April 14, 2026, with top government officials in attendance, including Zacch Adedeji, Godswill Akpabio, Abbas Tajudeen, and Nyesom Wike.
The event highlighted the transition from the former Federal Inland Revenue Service to the restructured NRS, a move designed to improve efficiency, transparency, and revenue generation in Nigeria’s tax administration.
According to officials, the transformation is part of broader economic reforms initiated by the Tinubu administration to modernise fiscal operations.
During the ceremony, the President praised the agency’s performance and formally declared the building open.
He also read the commemorative plaque, describing the new headquarters as a “symbol of integrity and progress” in Nigeria’s public service sector.
The unveiling included a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by key stakeholders and dignitaries.
The newly commissioned facility is a large-scale development featuring 16 floors and three towers, with capacity to accommodate approximately 3,000 employees.
The modern infrastructure is expected to enhance operational efficiency, provide a conducive work environment, and support improved service delivery to taxpayers across the country.
The commissioning underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening institutions and boosting internally generated revenue amid economic challenges.
Analysts say the new headquarters could play a critical role in streamlining tax processes and increasing compliance nationwide.
