GOC 3 Division Urges Newly Promoted Officers to Uphold Discipline, Leadership and Army Values

National News – The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), Major General Folusho Oyinlola, has challenged newly promoted officers to rise to the demands of their new ranks by demonstrating inclusive leadership, strategic thinking, and unwavering responsibility in the discharge of their duties.

Major General Oyinlola gave the charge during the investiture ceremony of 13 newly promoted officers held on Wednesday, 15 April 2026, at the Rhino Officers’ Mess, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos, Plateau State, according to a statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Olumide Victor Olukoya, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 3 Division Nigerian Army.

The colourful event drew a distinguished gathering of serving and retired senior military officers, alongside families, friends, and well-wishers.

Congratulating the officers, the GOC described their promotion as a recognition of hard work, discipline, and professional excellence.

He, however, stressed that elevation to higher ranks comes with increased expectations and responsibilities, urging them to lead by example and maintain the high standards that earned them their promotion.

He further called on the officers to embrace strategic leadership, make sound executive decisions, and ensure effective supervision of assigned duties, noting that their new roles demand deliberate, thoughtful, and responsible command.

Major General Oyinlola also underscored the importance of family support in the success of military personnel, acknowledging the sacrifices made by spouses and loved ones.

According to him, stability at home often translates to operational effectiveness in the field, and he commended families for their unwavering support throughout the officers’ careers.

In his goodwill message, Brigadier General JN Temlong (rtd) described the promotion as a call to higher service and responsibility.

He urged the officers to serve as role models to their subordinates, uphold integrity, and demonstrate leadership qualities worthy of emulation. He also encouraged them to strengthen comradeship and remain committed to duty.

Similarly, the Commander, 3 Division Medical Services and Hospital, Brigadier General O Adole, congratulated the officers and attributed their promotion to merit, consistency, and dedication to service.

He advised them to maintain a healthy work-life balance while mentoring younger officers and supporting their professional growth.

Responding on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Lieutenant Colonel Yusuf Yelwa Aliyu expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in them.

He appreciated the Chief of Army Staff for approving their promotion and commended the GOC for his leadership, support, and strategic guidance.

He assured that the officers would justify their elevation and work diligently to exceed expectations in their new ranks.

The newly decorated officers include Lieutenant Colonels YY Aliyu, M Galadima, A Isiaku, KU Jijji, FE Nnebeife, MG Mohammed, KJ Oyeniyi, MB Aminu, and MS Datti, as well as Lieutenants MU Ekanem, HB Lawan, FN Ominyi, and IA Mani.

Highlights of the ceremony included the investiture of ranks, goodwill messages, refreshments, and group photographs.
