National News – The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN), is set to deliver the keynote address at a high-level stakeholders’ electoral policy dialogue on Nigeria’s electoral process.
The event, organised by Abuja-based Law Corridor, will hold on April 29, 2026, at the Abuja Continental Hotel in Abuja, Nigeria.
The dialogue brings together political party leaders, civil society organisations, domestic and international election observers, and policy experts to examine reforms in the electoral system.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening electoral integrity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
It also seeks to identify practical solutions to challenges affecting credible elections.
Through inclusive engagement, stakeholders are expected to contribute ideas on improving transparency, voter confidence, and institutional efficiency in Nigeria’s democratic process.
The organisers of the dialogue stated that the high-level engagement will serve as a platform for deep discussions on Nigeria’s electoral system ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the Managing Partner of Law Corridor, Henry Kelechukwu Eni-Otu, the event is critical due to its proximity to the next general elections, stressing the need to address key challenges in the electoral process and strengthen democratic governance.
He added that the engagement will promote collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders to improve electoral integrity and build public trust.
Notable participants expected include legal experts and public figures such as Muyiwa Atoyebi (SAN), Seun Okinbaloye, Bala Maiyaki (SAN), Ahmed Raji (SAN), Patrick Ikwueto (SAN), Alhassan Umar (SAN), Dantele Yusuf, and Bukola Idowu among others.
The organisers further disclosed that a comprehensive policy brief containing reform recommendations and a roadmap for electoral improvements will be released after the event and submitted to relevant government ministries and agencies to support electoral reforms and institutional strengthening in Nigeria.
Stakeholders are also expected to explore voter education strategies, technology adoption in elections, and measures to reduce electoral disputes nationwide.
Organisers noted that the dialogue will further reinforce democratic accountability and encourage continuous reforms within Nigeria’s electoral institutions.
