National News – The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the Nigerian Army have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthened collaboration aimed at enhancing security and addressing emerging threats in Plateau State.
This was disclosed during a courtesy visit by the Comptroller of Immigration, Plateau State Command, Comptroller of Immigration Service (CIS) MU Abang, to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander, Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General EF Oyinlola, at Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos.
The visit formed part of CIS Abang’s familiarization tour following her recent assumption of duty and provided an opportunity to reinforce existing ties with the 3 Division as well as seek continued support for Nigeria Immigration Service operations and capacity development initiatives.
Speaking during the visit, CIS Abang commended the Nigerian Army for its professionalism and sustained efforts in maintaining peace and stability across Plateau State.
She emphasized the importance of fostering an open-door policy between both agencies to enhance coordination and operational effectiveness.
She further highlighted the need for strengthened collaboration in migration management, border security, surveillance, and the control of transborder crimes.
According to her, improved synergy between the NIS and the Nigerian Army would significantly enhance the Service’s contribution to national security. She also appealed for support in training NIS personnel to boost operational capacity and service delivery.
In his response, Major General Oyinlola congratulated CIS Abang on her appointment and appreciated the visit, reaffirming the Nigerian Army’s commitment to maintaining a strong working relationship with the Nigeria Immigration Service.
The GOC stressed that effective collaboration among security agencies remains vital to achieving lasting peace and security, noting that intelligence sharing and joint operational planning are critical in tackling emerging security challenges.
He further assured of the Army’s readiness to support the NIS in all necessary areas to ensure enduring peace in Plateau State.
The visit featured the exchange of souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ book, and a group photograph.
