National News – Former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, has returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The announcement was made at his residence in Kano, where supporters gathered amid visible displays of APC insignia.

He was joined in the move by Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo.

Addressing loyalists, Shekarau described the decision as the outcome of extensive consultations and a shared resolution among his political associates.

He expressed confidence that the step aligns with the broader interests of his supporters and political future.

His resignation from the PDP was confirmed in a letter submitted to party leaders at the ward level, with copies extended to relevant structures across Kano State.

In the message, he appreciated party officials for their cooperation and leadership during his time in the opposition party.

The development follows months of speculation linked to internal challenges within the PDP.

Political observers have noted his recent engagements with key APC figures, including Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, as signals of a possible shift.

Shekarau, who served as governor from 2003 to 2011, remains a prominent figure in Kano politics with a history of party realignments.

His latest move is expected to influence the political landscape in the state and potentially reshape alignments ahead of future contests.
