National News – Ademola Adeleke has commended Afrobeats star Davido for promoting the Adeleke family heritage and Osun State on the global stage.
The governor gave the praise on Sunday after the singer’s standout performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival held in California, United States.
The commendation followed a viral video showing Davido’s energetic stage entrance, highlighted by traditional Yoruba oríkì (praise poetry) from his hometown, Ede.
Adeleke described the moment as a proud display of culture, identity, and family legacy, noting that the performance projected Osun’s cultural richness to a global audience.
He shared the clip on social media, celebrating the singer’s achievement.
Davido, who was the only Nigerian act on the 2026 Coachella lineup, delivered a thrilling set packed with some of his biggest hits, including “Dami Duro,” “Skelewu,” “Aye,” “If,” and “With You.”
The crowd responded enthusiastically as the artist blended modern Afrobeats sounds with traditional elements, reinforcing his role as a global ambassador of Nigerian music.
The performance also featured a surprise appearance by fellow Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold.
Together, they performed their hit track “High,” further energising the audience and turning the Gobi Stage into a vibrant celebration of Afrobeats culture.
Observers say the show reflects the growing global influence of Nigerian music and culture.
