National News – Nigerian entertainers Portable and Carter Efe have reignited their rivalry with heated exchanges ahead of their celebrity boxing match at Chaos in the Ring 4, scheduled for May 1 at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos.
The bout is part of a nine-fight card expected to draw global attention, with both fighters promising a decisive outcome in the ring.
Portable, who previously defeated Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington in exhibition bouts, declared his intention to secure a third belt, boasting of his past victories and physical advantage.
He insisted that his experience in the ring would overpower Efe.
In response, Efe dismissed Portable’s claims, insisting he would end the fight quickly with a knockout punch, raising tension ahead of the highly anticipated clash.
In the main event, Ezra Arenyeka and Godday Appah also traded strong words during their face-off.
Their bout, described as a symbolic “WBO Peace Fight” representing Itsekiri and Ijaw communities in the Niger Delta, has added cultural significance to the event.
Both fighters vowed victory, with Appah predicting a knockout within six rounds, while Arenyeka countered with a promise to end the fight even earlier.
Other fighters on the card include Elvis Ahorgah of Ghana and Joe Laws from Newcastle, who added entertainment flair during their pre-fight appearances.
British boxer Michael McKinson, of Nigerian descent, is also set to face Algerian prospect Mohammad Sahnoun, expressing excitement about showcasing his skills while connecting with Nigerian culture.
The event, promoted by Balmoral Group Promotions in partnership with Amir Khan’s AK Promotions and sanctioned by the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control, will be broadcast globally on DAZN.
Organisers say the fight aims to boost African boxing visibility and provide emerging fighters with international exposure.
