National News – The Osun State Government has assured residents that Governor Ademola Adeleke will remain focused on governance despite preparations for the August 15 governorship election in the state.
The assurance was given on Thursday in Osogbo by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Bunmi Jenyo, during the return trip of the free Eid al-Kabir train service organised for holiday travellers.
Jenyo said the Adeleke administration would not allow politics to distract ongoing developmental projects and welfare programmes across Osun State.
According to him, the government remains committed to improving the lives of residents through infrastructure projects and social support initiatives.
The commissioner explained that the free Eid train service recorded major success this year, with more than 3,000 passengers arriving in Osun from Lagos for the Sallah celebration.
He added that several other travellers heading to Ogun and Oyo states also benefited from the transport initiative introduced by the state government.
Jenyo noted that the return journey to Lagos had been properly arranged to ensure smooth movement for passengers after the festive period.
He praised Governor Adeleke for sustaining the programme despite economic challenges and limited funds available to the administration.
Speaking on concerns about governance during the election season, Jenyo stated that Adeleke would continue to prioritise public welfare over politics.
He said residents across the state had witnessed ongoing road construction, community development projects, and other government interventions during the holiday period.
He further called on residents to continue supporting the administration ahead of the governorship poll, stressing that more people-focused programmes would be introduced if the government receives another mandate.
The Osun State Government described the free Eid train service as one of its efforts to reduce transportation costs for citizens and improve festive travel experiences across the region.
