National News – President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on Sunday assured Nigerians that insecurity across the country would soon be defeated.
He gave the assurance on April 5, 2026, during his Easter message at the Ikot Ekpene Field Major Convention of The Apostolic Church, Ikot Obong Edong, in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.
According to a statement issued in Abuja by his Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Anietie Ekong, Akpabio said the Federal Government remains committed to restoring peace, unity and stability nationwide.
Addressing worshippers and residents, Akpabio acknowledged the pain and grief experienced by families who have lost loved ones to violent attacks and insecurity.
He specifically recognised fallen security personnel who died in the line of duty defending Nigeria.
He noted that many citizens have also lost relatives in homes, markets, farms, workplaces and places of worship as the nation confronts persistent security threats.
Offering condolences, Akpabio said the sacrifices of fallen heroes would never be forgotten and assured grieving families that the nation stands with them.
He urged Nigerians to reject hatred and division, embrace compassion and solidarity, and remain hopeful for a peaceful future.
In his homily, Apostle (Dr) E. O. Akpan, Field Superintendent of the Apostolic Church and host of the convention, also expressed optimism that sustained prayers and national unity would usher in peace and development.
