National News – Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has officially submitted his presidential nomination forms at the African Democratic Congress secretariat in Abuja ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The submission, which took place on Thursday, marks a major step in his bid to contest for Nigeria’s highest office under the ADC platform.

Amaechi announced the development through a statement shared on his verified X account, where he confirmed his intention to join the 2027 presidential race.

According to him, the move is part of a broader mission to restore national unity, economic stability, and public confidence in governance.

The former minister said Nigerians deserve a country built on peace, progress, prosperity, and dignity.

He stressed that his presidential ambition is driven by the desire to reposition Nigeria among respected nations globally while improving the welfare of citizens across all regions.

During the submission process at the ADC national secretariat in Abuja, Amaechi was seen handling and sorting the completed nomination documents before formally presenting them to party officials.

Political observers say the development signals the growing momentum of early campaigns and strategic alignments ahead of the 2027 elections.

Amaechi, who previously served as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and later governor of Rivers State, remains one of Nigeria’s most influential political figures.

His declaration is expected to shape conversations within opposition politics as parties intensify preparations for the next electoral cycle.

Supporters believe his experience in governance and infrastructure development could strengthen his presidential campaign.

However, analysts note that the contest for the ADC ticket may attract other prominent aspirants in the coming months.

With political activities already gathering pace nationwide, Amaechi’s formal submission of nomination forms has added fresh energy to discussions surrounding the 2027 presidential election and the future direction of Nigeria’s democracy.
