National News – The All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primaries produced major winners across Nigeria on Saturday, with prominent figures such as Mudashiru Obasa and Yusuf Buhari clinching tickets ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The exercise, conducted across 360 federal constituencies, also witnessed protests, violence and allegations of irregularities in several states.

The APC disqualified 14 aspirants from Ondo, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Kogi and Rivers states after screening, according to party spokesman Felix Morka.

In Katsina State, Yusuf Buhari secured a landslide victory in the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency primary, polling 5,849 votes against his closest rival’s 21 votes.

In Lagos, Obasa emerged unopposed for the Agege Federal Constituency ticket, promising stronger representation if elected in 2027.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, also won unopposed in Kaduna State for a fifth consecutive term.

Similarly, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu secured the APC ticket for Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State.

Elsewhere, former Minority Leader Ndudi Elumelu defeated incumbent lawmaker Ngozi Okolie in Delta State, while APC spokesman Akintunde Rotimi triumphed in Ekiti State.

However, the primaries were overshadowed by unrest in Kaduna and Adamawa states, where protesters accused party officials of imposing candidates and manipulating results.

In Benue State, late arrival and alleged hijacking of election materials disrupted voting in some constituencies.

Despite the controversies, APC leaders insisted the primaries reflected internal democracy and preparations for the 2027 elections.
