APC Resumes E-Registration as PDP Claims 4.2M Members

National News – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially resumed its electronic membership registration across Nigeria, signaling renewed political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, announced that all eligible Nigerians aged 18 and above with a valid National Identification Number (NIN) can now register at designated locations nationwide.

The exercise aims to digitize party records, ensure membership integrity, improve planning, and promote internal democracy within the ruling party.

Meanwhile, the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), backed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, claims it has recorded 4,264,675 members as of March 31, 2026.

PDP spokesman Ini Ememobong stated that despite a short registration window mandated by INEC, the party mobilized volunteers and deployed a digital platform to reach both urban and rural areas.

“Millions of Nigerians chose the difficult but correct path to freedom over the easier path leading to ruin,” he said.

Data from the PDP portal shows male members slightly outnumber females, while 18–40-year-olds represent the largest age group at 40.3%.

Geographically, the South West leads with 953,954 members, followed by the South South (917,652) and North Central (757,502). States with the highest individual registrations include Kaduna (408,915), Edo (378,033), and Oyo (368,204).

The PDP faction awaits a Supreme Court ruling after courts nullified its November 2025 convention, while a separate FCT-backed PDP convention produced Abdulrahman Mohammed and Samuel Anyanwu as national chairman and secretary.

INEC has extended the submission deadline for electronic membership registers to May 10, 2026, to comply with electoral regulations.
