National News – A prominent Christian cleric in Cross River State, Archbishop Emmah Isong, has called on Nigerians to rally support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The call was made during the inauguration of the Cross River State chapter of the Arise with Renewed Hope Initiative, a political support group aligned with the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda.
Isong, who was inaugurated as chairman of a 30-member committee of the group, said the initiative aims to mobilise grassroots support for Tinubu and other political leaders while promoting values-driven leadership.
According to him, the group will also support Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno, and Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu ahead of the next election cycle.
The cleric explained that the initiative seeks to strengthen unity and good governance by encouraging Nigerians to support leaders who demonstrate integrity and a strong sense of moral responsibility.
He warned that allowing individuals without moral values to hold power could have serious consequences for the country’s future.
“Power must be entrusted to people who fear God and are guided by integrity. Leadership without moral values can endanger society,” Isong said while addressing members and supporters at the inauguration event.
He also praised Governors Umo Eno and Bassey Otu for what he described as their commitment to good governance and development in their respective states.
According to him, the support group will work closely with communities to encourage policies and leadership that prioritise the welfare of citizens.
Isong further urged religious leaders across Nigeria to play active roles in nation-building by guiding their congregations toward responsible civic engagement.
He noted that spiritual leaders have a responsibility to encourage citizens to participate in the democratic process and support credible leadership.
The cleric emphasised that the committee will focus on grassroots mobilisation, public awareness and voter education as the 2027 elections approach.
He also called on Nigerians living in the diaspora to return home and participate in the electoral process, stressing that their involvement is vital to strengthening democracy and shaping the country’s future leadership.
