National News – Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actor Dele Odule has opened up about a painful phase in his life and career, revealing how he once went as far as pricing his own coffin during a moment of deep despair.
The revelation came during an interview with Feelright TV, where the actor spoke about frustration, stalled career growth, and emotional burnout in Nigeria’s film industry.
Odule, known for decades of screen and stage performances since the 1970s, said the incident was not linked to illness but to overwhelming discouragement over his perceived lack of progress compared to his peers.
He noted that he visited a casket shop in Nigeria with fellow actor Olaiya Igwe, who was visibly moved and broke down emotionally.
The experience highlights mental health challenges and pressure within the entertainment industry.
The incident reportedly occurred after Odule felt his career had stagnated despite his long-standing contribution to Yoruba cinema, including his role in the classic film Ti Oluwa Nile.
The actor clarified he was not sick but mentally exhausted and disillusioned with progress in the movie industry.
The story has sparked conversations around depression, resilience, and mental health awareness among entertainers in Nigeria.
Fans have since expressed support, praising his honesty and courage in sharing the experience publicly.
