National News – The Federal Government and the Sokoto State Government have strengthened collaboration to address rising insecurity and banditry across the North-West state.
Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, disclosed this while speaking during his Sallah homage visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, shortly after the Eid prayers at the Sultan’s palace.
The governor explained that both governments are working in close coordination to improve security operations and restore peace in communities affected by bandit attacks, kidnapping, and cattle rustling.
According to him, the partnership includes enhanced logistical support for security agencies and stronger intelligence-sharing mechanisms aimed at disrupting criminal networks operating within forest areas.
Aliyu noted that his administration has intensified efforts to empower conventional security forces and the Sokoto State Community Guard Corps.
These efforts, he said, are designed to strengthen surveillance, improve rapid response capabilities, and protect vulnerable communities from armed groups.
He also urged residents across the state to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing useful information that could help identify criminal elements.
The governor stressed that public participation remains essential in the fight against banditry and other security threats.
“We call on our people to continue supporting the government and security agencies as they work to restore lasting peace.
Collective effort and vigilance will help ensure the safety of our communities,” Aliyu said.
He also called for prayers for security personnel deployed to volatile areas confronting armed bandits.
The governor further reassured citizens that his administration remains committed to inclusive governance and responsive leadership.
He pledged to maintain an open-door policy that allows residents to express their concerns and contribute ideas that can improve development and stability in the state.
In his remarks, the Sultan of Sokoto commended the governor’s development initiatives and urged him not to relent in efforts aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
The monarch reaffirmed the support of the Sultanate Council for the state government’s policies and programmes.
He also praised security agencies for their dedication to protecting lives and property while encouraging Nigerians to continue praying for the country’s peace, unity, and effective leadership.
