National News – Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has clarified that the recent meeting of governors in Lagos aimed to brief President Bola Tinubu on urgent security issues and coordinate strategies ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) convention.
Speaking during his investiture as Patron of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in Abuja, Sule explained that the governors’ gathering also involved discussions on party organization and upcoming primaries.
Sule said the meeting at Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, included 21 of the 31 expected APC governors and lasted into the early hours of Monday.
The session was hosted by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and presided over by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum.
Attendees included governors from Yobe, Ogun, Delta, Ondo, Cross River, Taraba, Kwara, Edo, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Kogi, Ebonyi, Plateau, Kano, Niger, Enugu, Jigawa, Katsina, and Nasarawa states.
Sule acknowledged the tight schedule forced the relocation of his investiture from Lafia to Abuja.
He expressed admiration for NIPR’s role in promoting leadership and innovation in Nigeria, highlighting the institute’s awards and their alignment with global recognition programs.
The NIPR Governing Council, led by Ike Neliaku, commended Sule for his support and leadership in improving Nasarawa State’s governance perception, which rose from 30.4% in 2024 to 83.6% in 2026, according to an independent survey.
Sule emphasized that leadership, vision, and innovation are crucial for national development.
He also expressed appreciation for the collaborative efforts of fellow governors in addressing security challenges and preparing for the APC convention, noting that such high-level coordination ensures effective governance and party unity ahead of elections.
