National News – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the reopening of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across Nigeria, scheduled to begin on Monday, May 11, 2026, and end on July 10, 2026.

The exercise, which affects eligible Nigerians nationwide, targets citizens who have turned 18 years or were previously unable to register, ensuring inclusivity in the electoral process.

According to INEC, the registration will be conducted nationwide through its state and local government offices as well as an online portal, allowing new registrations, voter transfers, replacement of lost PVCs, and correction of biodata.

The Commission explained that after the registration phase, the voter register will be displayed from July 23 to July 29, 2026 for public scrutiny, claims, and objections to ensure accuracy and credibility.

INEC assured Nigerians that all necessary arrangements have been concluded to ensure a smooth exercise, urging citizens to participate actively in strengthening Nigeria’s democratic process.

Eligible voters are encouraged to seize the opportunity to register or update their details within the 60-day window, as INEC emphasized that voter participation remains critical for free, fair, and credible elections in Nigeria.

This phase of the CVR is expected to strengthen the national voter database, reduce irregularities, and enhance transparency ahead of future electoral activities across the country.

The development is expected to boost democratic participation and ensure that no eligible Nigerian is left out of the electoral process ahead of upcoming elections.

Citizens are advised to complete registration early to avoid last-minute rush and technical delays.

This ensures smooth electoral preparation nationwide.
