National News – Residents of Igboho community in Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State erupted in celebration after a kidnapped family, including a pregnant woman, her children and another relative, regained freedom following a two-hour ultimatum issued by Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
Videos circulating on social media showed jubilant residents singing and dancing to welcome the victims back to the community.
The development followed a stern warning by Igboho to leaders of the Fulani community in the area over recurring cases of kidnapping and insecurity.
In a widely shared video, the activist accused some individuals of involvement in abductions and condemned the killing of a ransom bearer in a previous incident.
He alleged that despite receiving ransom payments, kidnappers had killed the person who delivered the money and released only one victim.
Igboho subsequently demanded the immediate release of other abductees, giving a two-hour deadline and warning that he had exercised restraint only after appeals from traditional rulers.
“I am calm because my fathers asked me to be calm with you. Let this be the last time such a thing will happen,” he declared, threatening further action if the captives were not freed.
Hours later, residents celebrated what they described as the return of the abducted family.
However, the exact circumstances surrounding their release remained unclear as of the time of filing this report. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the development.
