National News – Kinsmen of a 42-year-old man, Emeka Okafor, have demanded justice after he allegedly died when he was thrown from a four-storey building in Onitsha South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Friday along Afubera Street in the Odoakpu area of Onitsha.
According to community leaders and family members, the victim was accused of stealing boxer shorts from the factory where he worked as a supervisor before the fatal attack.
Reports indicate that Okafor, who also lived within the same building used partly as a factory, was allegedly beaten and detained by some workers after the accusation.
His younger brother, Sunday Oguejiofor, said he received a call informing him that Okafor had been thrown from the fourth floor of the building around 3 a.m., leading to his death.
When he arrived at the scene, he reportedly found his brother’s lifeless body with a piece of cloth tied around his head, suggesting his face may have been covered before he was thrown down.
The deceased hailed from Ogboji community in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Following the incident, leaders and members of the community formed a delegation to demand justice.

Speaking after the meeting with police officials, Nwaedozie described the incident as shocking and painful, stressing that the community would not allow the death of a promising young man to go unpunished.
He urged law enforcement authorities to ensure that those responsible are identified and prosecuted.
An Assistant Commissioner of Police at the division, Olusegun Kayode, assured the delegation that the case would not be ignored.
According to him, several suspects have been arrested, and the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for further investigation.
