National News – The Kwara State Police Command has deployed security personnel across major locations in the state ahead of the Easter celebration to ensure safety.
The deployment, announced on Friday, April 4, 2026, covers churches, highways, event centres, and recreational spots across Kwara State, particularly in Ilorin, where large gatherings are expected.
The move is aimed at protecting lives and property, preventing crime, and ensuring a peaceful Easter celebration for residents and visitors.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the operation involves strategic positioning of officers and tactical teams across the state.
She explained that the initiative was designed to strengthen security before, during, and after Easter activities, when thousands of worshippers are expected to attend church services and public events.
The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, CP Adekimi Ojo, said the command had activated extensive security measures to maintain law and order.
He stated that patrol teams and special tactical units had been mobilised to provide rapid response to any security threats during the festive period.
Ojo also directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and tactical unit heads to intensify visibility policing and intelligence-led operations across their jurisdictions.
According to him, officers have been placed on high alert to ensure that no security breach occurs throughout the celebrations.
He further disclosed that the police command is collaborating with religious leaders, community stakeholders, and security partners to strengthen coordination and improve safety for worshippers attending Easter services.
Residents were urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s control room numbers: 07032069501 and 08125275046.
Parents and guardians were also advised to closely monitor their children during the festive period.
The police command reassured the public of its commitment to safeguarding communities across Kwara State and wished Christians a peaceful and safe Easter celebration.
