National News – Nigerian football stars will feature prominently across Europe this weekend as several Super Eagles players prepare for crucial club matches ahead of upcoming international friendlies.

The highlight is Ademola Lookman’s first appearance in the famous Madrid derby, where Atletico Madrid travel to face city rivals Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in a blockbuster La Liga clash.

Lookman, who joined Atletico Madrid from Atalanta in January, has quickly made an impact at the Spanish club.

The Nigerian forward has recorded four goals and four assists in 13 matches, putting him in strong form ahead of the derby.

Atletico remain in contention for multiple trophies this season, having reached the Copa del Rey final against Real Sociedad scheduled for April 18, while also preparing for a Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona.

Elsewhere in Spain, three Nigerian players will face each other in a high-stakes La Liga battle.

Sevilla’s Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke are expected to take on compatriot Umar Sadiq when Valencia visit Sevilla.

Both teams are fighting to avoid relegation, with Sevilla currently 15th on the table with 31 points, just one point behind 14th-placed Valencia.

Adams has been Sevilla’s most reliable goal scorer this season with seven league goals and is expected to lead the attack.

Ejuke has returned to training after a brief injury concern and could also feature.

On the opposing side, Sadiq, who joined Valencia in January, will aim to increase his tally after contributing one goal and two assists in 10 appearances.

In England, Nigerian trio Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze are available for Fulham as they host Burnley at Craven Cottage in the Premier League.

Fulham are pushing for a European qualification spot, while Burnley remain deep in the relegation zone with only a few matches left in the season.

Another Premier League clash involving Nigerians will see Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi travel to face Tottenham Hotspur in a tense relegation battle.

Forest recently boosted morale with a European victory and have won their last three league meetings against Spurs.

Across other European leagues, Nathan Tella could feature for Bayer Leverkusen against Heidenheim in Germany, while Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s Lazio visit Bologna in Italy as both teams chase European qualification.
