National News – The Labour Party has set its presidential nomination and expression of interest forms at a combined ₦50 million ahead of the 2027 general elections, outlining a detailed timetable for its 2026 primaries.
The announcement was made on Sunday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, who said the schedule aligns with the 1999 Constitution, the Electoral Act 2026, and guidelines from the Independent National Electoral Commission.
According to the party, the sale of forms will begin on May 6 and close on May 16, while submission of completed forms will take place between May 17 and May 18.
Screening of aspirants is scheduled for May 20 for state-level positions and May 22 for National Assembly and presidential hopefuls.
Results are expected on May 23, with appeals fixed for May 24 and May 25, depending on the category.
A major highlight of the announcement is the waiver granted to Alex Otti, who will receive both forms free of charge.
The party said this decision recognizes his performance as Abia State Governor and his contributions to strengthening its public image.
The breakdown of fees shows that House of Assembly aspirants will pay ₦3 million, House of Representatives ₦5 million, Senate ₦10 million, and governorship ₦25 million.
For the presidential race, aspirants must pay ₦10 million for the expression of interest and ₦40 million for the nomination form.
The party also introduced concessions for women, youths aged 25 to 30, and persons living with disabilities, who will only pay for expression of interest forms.
Primaries for state positions are set for May 27, while National Assembly and presidential primaries will hold on May 29.
Additionally, the party urged prospective aspirants to complete membership registration before May 4 to qualify for participation.
