National News – The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has unveiled its candidates for the 2027 National Assembly and Ekiti State House of Assembly elections following peaceful and consensus-based primaries held in Ekiti State.

The exercise, which took place in Ado Ekiti on Friday, brought together party leaders, stakeholders, aspirants, and supporters as the party intensified preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking after emerging as the NDC candidate for Ekiti North I Federal Constituency, Dr. Ayodele David-Adesua praised party members for conducting a peaceful and transparent process.

He said the orderly affirmation of candidates demonstrated the party’s commitment to internal democracy, unity, and credible leadership.

According to David-Adesua, the NDC aims to promote youth empowerment, economic development, transparency, and effective representation.

He expressed confidence that the party would perform strongly in the 2027 elections and secure legislative seats across the state.

The candidate list emerged after consultations, stakeholder engagements, and strategic meetings involving party leaders across the South-West.

During the affirmation process, party officials endorsed candidates for senatorial, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly positions.

NDC State Chairman Musa Arogundade stated that the consensus arrangement was designed to strengthen party cohesion, improve electoral readiness, and ensure a united front ahead of the elections.

He described the process as transparent and inclusive.

The party’s senatorial candidates are Olu Alufa for Ekiti Central, Prince Adeyinka Alli for Ekiti North, and Dr. Ayokunle Ayodele for Ekiti South.

House of Representatives candidates include Babafemi Adegbite, Modupe Adesola, Ayodele David-Adesua, Temiyo Ajayi, Oluwashola Babalola, and Sunday Adebayo across the six federal constituencies in the state.

Ayodele and Alli both described the process as a positive step toward rebuilding democratic values and delivering people-centred governance.

Party stakeholders also expressed optimism that the NDC would strengthen its presence in Ekiti despite the dominance of the APC, urging residents, professionals, and young voters to support its candidates in 2027.
