National News – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,100 personnel across Bauchi State to maintain security and protect lives and property during the Easter celebrations.
The deployment, announced on Saturday by the state command, covers all 20 local government areas to ensure that worshippers and residents celebrate the holiday in peace.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Saminu Yusuf, the large-scale security operation was approved by the Bauchi State Commandant, Oloyede Nelson Oyerinde, as part of preparations for the Easter festivities.
The personnel include uniformed officers assigned to visible patrol duties as well as plain-clothed operatives tasked with covert surveillance across strategic locations.
The commandant said the move followed the public holidays declared by the Federal Government of Nigeria for Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, in observance of Easter.
Security operatives have therefore been strategically stationed at churches, celebration venues, major roads, and other public spaces expected to record high human traffic during the period.
Authorities explained that officers were drawn from different departments, units, area commands, and divisional offices of the corps to ensure effective coverage across the state.
The operation will also focus on safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, including government facilities and essential services, throughout the holiday period.
The NSCDC leadership in Bauchi assured residents that proactive security measures had been put in place to deter crime and respond quickly to emergencies during the celebrations.
The commandant also extended Easter greetings to Christian faithful and officers of the corps, wishing them a peaceful and incident-free holiday.
Residents were further urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities.
The command emphasised that maintaining peace and public safety requires collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the community.
Authorities added that the deployment would remain active before, during, and after the Easter celebrations to ensure sustained security across Bauchi State.
