National News – The Taraba State Police Command has arrested two suspects linked to the killing of three police officers in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The arrests followed a police investigation into an ambush that occurred in the rural community of Tse Kwe Tor Damisa, where suspected militias attacked and killed the officers while on duty.

According to a statement issued on Saturday in Jalingo by the Police Public Relations Officer, Victor Mshelizah, the suspects—Suleman Abdullahi, 30, and Idris Kauri, 33—both from Akete Village in Donga LGA, were apprehended after security operatives tracked them during an ongoing probe into the deadly incident.

Authorities revealed that the attack happened when armed militia members ambushed the policemen and fatally shot them before fleeing with their service rifles.

The police explained that swift intelligence gathering and coordinated operations helped investigators identify and capture two of the alleged perpetrators.

The statement confirmed that the stolen rifles taken during the attack have since been recovered by security operatives.

Both suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to face prosecution once investigations are concluded.

The Commissioner of Police in Taraba State, Morkwap Dongshal, earlier visited the scene of the killings to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the security situation in Donga and nearby Takum Local Government Area.

During the visit, he reassured residents that security agencies are intensifying efforts to track down other suspects believed to have participated in the attack.

Police authorities also disclosed another security breakthrough in a separate operation carried out by officers attached to the Zing Divisional Police Headquarters.

During a stop-and-search operation at Yonko, two suspects were intercepted while transporting a large cache of ammunition.

The suspects—Torme Terzugwe, 39, from Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State, and Job David, 35, from Toungo Local Government Area of Adamawa State—were reportedly travelling on an unregistered motorcycle toward Ganye LGA in Adamawa when police operatives stopped them.

A search conducted by officers led to the discovery of 304 rounds of live ammunition in their possession.

Police authorities stated that the suspects are currently being interrogated as investigations continue to determine the source and intended destination of the ammunition.

Security agencies have pledged to sustain operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and preventing further attacks on law enforcement personnel in the region.
