National News – The Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Dr Ali Isa, has called for peaceful coexistence and unity among residents of Buwangal community in Balanga Local Government Area of Gombe State, urging citizens to uphold justice, fairness, and respect for authority.

Isa made the appeal on Friday during the inauguration of a newly constructed ultra-modern mosque in the community, where he reaffirmed his commitment to serving all constituents regardless of religious or social differences.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the lawmaker who represents the Billiri/Balanga Federal Constituency emphasised that leadership must be guided by justice, fairness, and the fear of God.

According to him, responsible leadership promotes unity and development in communities.

He also encouraged residents to maintain peace and cooperate with constituted authorities, stressing that power ultimately comes from God.

Isa commended the Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya, for executing visible developmental projects across the state.

He noted that the newly inaugurated mosque would serve as a spiritual centre where community members gather for worship, unity, and moral guidance.

Delivering the first Friday sermon at the mosque, the Chief Imam of Buwangal and Chairman of the Gombe State Council of Scholars, Sheikh Hamza Abdulhamid, urged Muslims to remain committed to observing the five daily prayers, which he described as a fundamental pillar of Islam.

He added that the mosque would strengthen spiritual growth and foster unity among residents.

Religious leaders present at the event commended Isa’s investment in religious infrastructure, saying such initiatives encourage discipline, moral values, and community development.

They also urged other leaders to emulate his inclusive approach to leadership.

The Chairman of the Employment and Empowerment Committee, Alhaji Yusuf Manu, explained that the mosque project forms part of broader interventions by the lawmaker aimed at supporting both Muslim and Christian communities through the construction of places of worship and sponsorship of religious pilgrimages.

Similarly, the member representing Kaltungo/Shongom Federal Constituency, Dr Shehu Obed, praised the Tangale and Waja communities for maintaining a tradition of peaceful coexistence, urging residents to sustain unity for continued progress.

Traditional ruler Dr James Chachis, the Ndugurah Cham, also called on leaders and citizens to avoid actions that could promote religious divisions.
