National News – Overnight drone and missile attacks in the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine have killed two children in separate strikes in both Russia and Ukraine, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

The attacks occurred late Monday night into early Tuesday, targeting residential areas and infrastructure as the war between the two nations continues to escalate more than four years after it began.

Authorities in Russia reported that a drone strike hit a residential building in the Vladimir Region, killing three people, including a seven-year-old boy.

The regional governor, Alexander Avdeev, said the victims were a couple and their young son.

The couple’s five-year-old daughter survived but suffered burns and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

According to Russian officials, the attack was part of a wave of Ukrainian drone strikes targeting various regions overnight.

Meanwhile in Ukraine, an 11-year-old boy died after a drone strike triggered a fire at a house in the Dnipropetrovsk Region.

Regional authorities said the attack damaged multiple homes and a vehicle in the Synelnykove district.

The head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Ganzha, reported that two women and a man were hospitalised with injuries from the incident.

Officials explained that the attacks were part of a continuing exchange of drone strikes between the two countries.

Russia has frequently launched drones and missiles at Ukrainian targets during the conflict, while Ukraine has recently intensified attacks on Russian energy facilities.

Analysts say these strikes aim to reduce Moscow’s revenue from oil exports, particularly as tensions in the Middle East continue to affect global energy prices.

Russia’s defence ministry stated that its air defence systems shot down 45 Ukrainian drones across several regions overnight.

Ukrainian authorities also confirmed that multiple districts in the Dnipropetrovsk region were struck more than ten times during the attacks, causing fires, damaging power lines, and injuring additional residents.

The overnight strikes highlight the continuing humanitarian toll of the war, with civilians—including children—frequently caught in the crossfire as both sides intensify their aerial attacks.
