Sokoto Approves N1.46bn Bulletproof Vehicles for Governor

National News – The Sokoto State Executive Council has approved over N7.5bn for major infrastructure, transportation and government projects, including N1.46bn for bulletproof vehicles for Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s office.

The approvals were announced after the council meeting held at the Government House in Sokoto on Wednesday.

The approved vehicle package includes three bulletproof Toyota Land Cruiser SUVs, two 2025 Toyota Prado SUVs and one Coaster bus for official use.

According to the state government, the purchase is aimed at improving security and official operations for the governor’s office.

Commissioner for Transport Bala Kokani disclosed that the council also approved N438m for the purchase of six buses for the Sokoto State Transport Authority.

He explained that the decision was supported by the agency’s N500m internally generated revenue.

Commissioner for Lands and Housing Nasiru Dantsoho revealed that the council approved N2.2bn for the rehabilitation of 36 roads across Sokoto State.

Another N894.68m was approved as additional funding for the ongoing construction work at the Sultan Abubakar International Airport Protocol Lodge.

The council further approved N1.08bn for the renovation of the NYSC Orientation Camp in Wamako, a facility reportedly built over 12 years ago during the administration of former governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamako.

Officials said the renovation would improve accommodation and infrastructure for corps members.

Additional approvals include N398.63m for fencing the Livestock Services Centre in Wamako, N733.27m for renovating the International Conference Centre in Kasarawa and N340.5m for procuring two pay loaders for waste evacuation across the state.

The government also approved N67.99m for printing the 2026 government calendar and diaries, while separate official diaries for the governor’s office will cost N71.22m.

State officials said the projects reflect the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, transportation, sanitation and improved public service delivery in Sokoto State.
