National News – Chukwuma Soludo, governor of Anambra State, on Wednesday officially swore in Mrs Chiamaka Nnake as the new Secretary to the State Government alongside 13 other key appointees at the Government House, also known as the “Light House,” in Awka.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at about 12:47 pm inside the Executive Council Chamber as the governor unveiled what he described as the first batch of officials under his administration’s “Team Solution 2.0.”

During the ceremony, the former Solicitor-General of the state, Mrs Ngozi Iwouno, administered the oath of office to the newly appointed Attorney-General, Tobechukwu Nweke (SAN), who then conducted the oath of allegiance for the other appointees.

The event marked the beginning of a new phase of appointments aimed at strengthening governance and improving public service delivery in the state.

Addressing the officials, Soludo said the appointments followed a careful vetting process and urged the new team members to see their roles as a call to serve the people of Anambra.

According to him, the administration deliberately selected individuals capable of contributing meaningfully to governance, adding that more appointments would follow as the administration continues to expand its team.

The governor emphasised that public office should not be seen as an opportunity for personal gain but as a responsibility that demands dedication, sacrifice and accountability.

He reminded the appointees that their oath of office was a solemn commitment to serve the state faithfully and uphold the public trust.

Soludo also called on families and close associates of the newly appointed officials to support them by avoiding excessive demands that could distract them from their responsibilities.

He stressed that their primary duty is to serve the people and advance development across the state.

Among those sworn in were Mrs Ngozi Iwouno as Head of Service; Joachim Anetoh as Principal Secretary to the Governor; Dr Ben Nwankwo as Chief of Staff; Prof. Frank-Collins Okafor as State Chief of Protocol; and Uzochukwu Okafor as Commissioner for Finance.

Others include Christian Aburime as Chief Press Secretary, Dr Vincent Okechi as Deputy Chief of Staff, Ms Ngozi Okoye as Deputy State Chief of Protocol, Dr Godwin Nnadozie as Special Adviser on Medicals and Pharmaceuticals, Ms Chinwe Okoli as Special Adviser on Innovation and Business Incubation, Prof. Ebuka Nwankwo as Special Adviser on Special Projects, and Ken Emeakayi as Special Adviser on Community Security.
