National News – Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled a coordinated Boko Haram assault in Mallam Fatori, Abadam LGA, Borno State, killing three high-profile commanders and over 80 insurgents.
The eliminated leaders include Abdulrahman Gobara, Mallam Ba Yuram, and Abou Ayyuba, who orchestrated the attack.
The operation also neutralized other known fighters such as Zarkawi, Ba Bunu, and Abu Aisha.
According to Lt Col Sanni Uba, Media Officer of the Northeast Joint Task Force, the terrorists advanced in large numbers on foot and deployed armed drones to breach military positions.
Troops, maintaining full situational awareness, executed an offensive-defensive strategy, successfully disrupting and routing the attackers.
Precision air support from both Nigerian and Nigerien forces compounded the pressure, ensuring minimal casualties on the military side, with only four soldiers wounded and promptly stabilized.
The engagement led to the recovery of a significant cache of weapons, including 52 AK-47 rifles, eight PKT machine guns, seven RPG tubes, five GPMGs, over 3,000 rounds of ammunition, 21 RPG bombs, and nine improvised explosive devices.
Additional combat tools such as communication radios and drone components were also seized, further weakening the terrorist network.
The military stated that the elimination of these commanders represents a major disruption to Boko Haram’s operational command and capabilities.
The victory demonstrates the growing tactical effectiveness, resilience, and coordination of Operation Hadin Kai forces across the region.
Citizens are urged to remain vigilant while disregarding unverified reports that seek to undermine security efforts.
This successful repulsion follows recent operations across Borno, including coordinated attacks in Ajiri Cross, Damboa, and Baga, highlighting sustained military dominance and proactive counterterrorism measures.
The high morale and operational preparedness of troops have been commended by the Military High Command, reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to combating insurgency.
