National News – The wife of Aboy Chibuzor, the non-verbal autistic man adopted by Chibuzor Chinyere, has publicly clarified that she is not a virgin and is already a mother of three children.
The revelation came shortly after the couple’s wedding on Sunday, March 29, 2026, in Rivers State, following widespread debate on social media over the controversial matchmaking arranged by the church leader.
In a video interview shared online by the cleric on Monday, the bride addressed speculation about her personal life.
She explained that she is a widow whose husband died years ago and that she is raising three children.
The woman also disclosed that she originally comes from Edo State but spent most of her life growing up in Rivers State, which is her mother’s state of origin.
The wedding drew national attention after Apostle Chinyere announced he was searching for a wife for his adopted son, Aboy, who is autistic and unable to speak.
According to the cleric, Aboy requires daily assistance for routine activities including feeding, bathing, and other personal care.
To encourage someone to marry the young man, the church founder promised financial incentives for the bride.
The incentives reportedly included a ₦10 million wedding gift, a house, and an overseas vacation for the couple.
He also pledged an additional ₦20 million reward if Aboy remains alive after ten years of marriage.
However, the proposal sparked mixed reactions across Nigeria.
Some critics questioned whether the offer of financial rewards could influence the bride’s decision, while others expressed concern about the dignity of women and the circumstances surrounding the arrangement.
Amid the criticism, Apostle Chinyere later apologised publicly, saying he never intended to degrade women with the proposal.
Despite the controversy, the wedding ceremony went ahead on Sunday, with photos of the event later shared on social media.
Following the marriage, the cleric claimed that early improvements had already been noticed in Aboy’s condition, stating that the young man had begun feeding himself without assistance.
He further expressed hope that divine intervention could eventually enable Aboy to speak within six months.
The unusual union continues to generate reactions online, as many Nigerians debate the ethical, social, and humanitarian dimensions of the marriage.
