National News – Former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, ex-Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo, and Vice President Kashim Shettima held a closed-door political meeting in Abuja on Tuesday as consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections continue within the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The meeting, which also had the lawmaker representing Bichi Federal Constituency, Abba Abubakar Kabir Bichi, focused on political developments in Kano North and ongoing efforts to strengthen party unity before the next election cycle.
Gwarzo disclosed details of the meeting through a statement shared on his verified Facebook page shortly after the discussions ended in Abuja.
According to him, the delegation met with Shettima to deliberate on political affairs affecting Kano North and the future direction of the APC in the region.
He stated that the Vice President wished the political leaders success in their political journey as discussions around strategic alliances and party structure continue ahead of the 2027 elections.
The development comes days after Gwarzo was screened as an aspirant for the Kano North Senatorial District seat on the APC platform.
The district remains one of the most influential political blocs in Kano State, with several heavyweight politicians expected to contest major positions in 2027.
Among the notable political figures from Kano North are Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Ganduje, Kano Deputy Governor Murtala Sule Garo, and Abba Bichi.
The Kano North senatorial seat is currently occupied by Barau, who is widely expected to seek re-election.
Political consultations and consensus-building within the APC have intensified in recent weeks as party leaders position themselves for the next general elections.
Another aspirant, Mahmoud Baba Bichi, reportedly withdrew from the race following interventions aimed at preserving party unity in Kano State.
