National News – Governor Alex Otti has urged residents of Abia State to protect the ongoing transformation across the state and resist any attempt to return to what he described as years of poor governance and neglect.
The governor made the call during the State Conference of Aba North Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held in Aba.
Otti said his administration came into office in 2023 with a mission to rebuild Abia and restore confidence in the state’s leadership.
According to him, the progress recorded so far must be sustained beyond his current tenure to ensure lasting development for future generations.
The governor explained that his emergence as governor was divinely inspired and part of a broader effort to reposition Abia State economically and socially.
He stressed that governance in the state should never return to the “old order,” insisting that citizens must remain committed to protecting the gains already achieved.
Speaking on why he ventured into politics, Otti revealed that he was often embarrassed by the negative perception of Abia State in the past.
He noted that many Nigerians viewed Abians with pity because of years of leadership failures, decaying infrastructure and lack of development.
According to the governor, restoring the dignity and pride of Abia people remains one of the biggest achievements of his administration.
He added that his government would continue extending roads, infrastructure and other development projects to rural communities and neglected areas across the state.
Otti also called on residents to support visionary leadership capable of sustaining economic growth, improved public services and infrastructural renewal in Abia State.
He maintained that collective support from citizens remains essential for preserving the ongoing transformation and ensuring sustainable development in the state.
