National News – The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised concerns over repeated disruptions affecting preparations for its national convention, alleging political interference in securing venues.

Party spokesperson Kola Ologbondiyan said on April 14, 2026, that several event centres abruptly cancelled bookings despite confirmed payments and agreements.

He claimed the situation hindered planning for the convention, which was expected to unite party delegates from across Nigeria.

According to him, the withdrawals occurred at critical moments, forcing last-minute changes and uncertainty.

The party insists it had met all requirements and sees the pattern as deliberate pressure from influential actors.

The development has sparked debate over freedom of political organisation and electoral processes in Nigeria.

Ologbondiyan, speaking on ARISE News, said the ADC faced repeated last-minute venue withdrawals while preparing for its national convention, including changes during inspection visits.

He noted that Rainbow Events Centre initially agreed but later reversed approval after alleged external pressure, forcing organisers to seek alternatives.

He maintained there was no court order stopping the exercise and that the convention would proceed as scheduled, emphasising the party’s legal compliance with electoral guidelines.

Ologbondiyan also addressed internal disagreements and state congress disputes, describing them as normal in party politics that do not threaten unity.

He added that leadership and presidential ticket arrangements remain undecided, as the focus is currently on strengthening the opposition platform ahead of future elections.

According to him, the ADC remains committed to holding its national convention despite the challenges.
